To twitter or not to twitter....that is the question!

Always striving to be on the cutting edge and innovative with your job search.
Step out of your comfort zone.
Social networking sites. What comes to mind? My Space? Facebook? Yes. You know I always advise to set yourself apart and social networking web sites are no exception.

Frankly speaking, traditional networking, that so many career professionals, such as employment counsellors and career counsellors ( I am among them!) espouse, are losing potency in effectiveness. The familiar refrain among us has been to network ad nauseum, but if you are introverted, less inclined to take a risk or to appear "immodest," this is no small feat. So my appreal is to those of you who are resilient in nature and not loathe to being avant garde.

Take a breath. You can step out of your comfort zone and achieve success and visibility with employers by using social media sites, such as linkedin.com, ryze.com and yes, twitter, et al.

No coincidence that English continues to evolve faster than the speed of light, especially when it comes to the "social lexicon." A francophone acquaintance asked me," Do you have a My Space account?" "No, " replied. "But I have a twitter account."

To discover the advantages of using social networking web sites in the recession, join me for a session at Canadian Forces Base Kingston for 4 free sessions in April and in May.
